THE FRAGRANCE
Part of the Flower collection
A lover's carnival on the moon - feelings worth reaching to the moon and back.” - Jan Vilhelm Ahlgren

So he travelled the world in search of all the tuberose to fill the moon. For seven days and seven nights, the moon scattered this enchanting scent – pears, patchouli, ambroxan, orris and musk – across the universe.

Addictive scent

My first impression of this scent was that I was fairly underwhelmed, but the more I wear it the more I love it. Even though it really is just a simple white floral, there is a powdery, almost musk undertone that really hooks me. I still think it’s overpriced for what it is, but the smaller size with a discount code made it worth while for me.

Gardenia overload

Not the fragrance for me, too much gardenia. The gardenia overpowered the other notes. I passed it on to a friend who enjoys it.

A sweet and floral dream

It is sweet and floral, just like a summer carnival! Definitely remaining a staple in my fragrance collection!

tuberose + coconut dessert

There's no coconut listed in the note? For me, this fragrance smells like tuberose + coconut dessert! The tuberose essence is not bubblegum-y. It is as if freshly extracted from the flower.

If coconut is a ghost note here, gardenia is on the cast list but never shows up. Jean Claude-Ellena praised Chanel Gardenia in his book as his favorite reinvention of this flower. That fragrance is a drama played out somewhere between jasmine and tuberose. It does not smell of the flower but of happiness. Given the release date of many tuberose and gardenia fragrances, some reviewers associate these notes with aged women, however not at all for me. I am simply obsessed with their mesmerizing, sensual, and cheerful quality.

In terms of creativity, Moon Carnival is not ground-breaking. It sits in the same realm as FM Carnal Flower, D.S. & Durga Durga, and Nasomatto Narcotic V, but is a slight gourmand variation. Carnal Flower and Durga are loftier, more like a deep pocket; whereas Narcotic V and Moon Carnival are more approachable and girly. Among these four, Moon Carnival has the weakest sillage and longevity.

Even it is not the world's most unique, most beast-mode fragrance, I still NEED it in my collection, all blame to its superb packaging design. Being fragrant is an experience, and the bottle is part of that.

Pretty, But...

This is a very pretty tuberose and when first applied I had high hopes it would be a winner. Unfortunately, the sillage and longevity just aren’t there, especially for a perfume at this price point. However, if you love tuberose you might be willing to reapply in order to overcome the longevity issue.
