MATIERE PREMIERE was born from an idea that takes shape around an exceptional natural ingredient with many olfactive facets and endless ways to tell the story. The only perfumer to produce Rose Centifolia on his farm, Aurélien Guichard founded MATIERE PREMIERE, not due to creative limitations in his work for some of the biggest fashion houses in the world but rather a desire to focus on the essential beauty of each ingredient. He strives to tell each story in a different tone, pace, intensity, and dosage, carefully sourcing each component from the specific region to fit the narrative imagined. Founding his farm allows the complete supervision of each raw element they produce and use in certain fragrances. UNESCO recognized the exceptional terroir as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2018.
