On National Earth Day, we celebrate smelling good and doing so sustainably. We are donating 10% of our proceeds from today’s sales to the University of Minnesota’s research fund in the Department of Plant Pathology to support current research activities in forest pathology, wood microbiology, forest mycology, and international conservation projects. Their work in Papua New Guinea, the Last Frontier for agarwood in natural forests, in cooperation with the Rainforest Project Foundation and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, includes research and training programs for rural villagers to produce cultivated agarwood. The sustainable management of Papua New Guinea's agarwood will help protect and preserve old-growth trees while supplying cultivated agarwood from managed forest sites. Here are a few brands whose values in mindful foresting align with ours.

Maison Francis Kurkdjian
Known to use the highest quality ingredients and own his very own rose farm, Francis Kurkdjian’s olfactory dialogue with oud led to comparing different samples from suppliers. The chosen one is a protected grade of Laotian oud that met requirements and aesthetic criteria: a fruity facet reminiscent of peach, a saffron accent, a dry, waxy side, the famous animal note, and potency.

Hermetica Paris
Hermetica was launched in 2018 thanks based on the desire and conviction to initiate a new way to experience and make perfumes. An olfactive dance combines the best of nature and science with a breakthrough formula in each composition. A clean, long-lasting, hydrating, and alcohol-free perfume is a genuine gesture of beauty awareness of the environment. Hermetica pledges to plant one tree with every fragrance sold online. Sustainability is central to their practice, from the very inception of the fragrance – where they buy the ingredients, where it’s made and how it’s made – to the end of its lifespan.

Fragrance Du Bois
Fragrance Du Bois promotes sustainable forestry by using only sustainably-sourced and certified products, with CITES or Rainforest Alliance certification, to prevent the ruthless exploitation of rainforest areas. All Fragrance Du Bois 'Oud' fragrances contain 100% natural organic Vintage Oud oil from sustainable sources. Certified by CITES, the oil is aged and matured for several years before it's added to perfumes.
