- I have a love for items that have a story and create an emotional connection with their owners, However, I feel that we have lost a lot of that relationship with our belongings. The majority of the time, we are making purchases because of their low price point and rapid availability. I'm also really concerned about our current state of rubbish and landfill.
- I started Aggre as a rebellion against these issues. By utilising cement in a fresh and interesting approach, Aggre's items appear as delicate as ceramics, but are incredibly strong and durable. Because of their strength, their risk of breaking is lowered, therefore reduces the amount sent to landfill. Each item is unique and one off, no two will ever be the same; it’s the beauty of making products by hand.
- I was raised in the coastal town of Coffs Harbour and then moved to Sydney in 2012 to study Communication & Graphic Design at CATC. After completing my studies in 2013, I moved overseas , travelling and working in countries like Austria, Morocco and Turkey. I then settled in Berlin for 2 years and opened a successful Bakery.
- Working with concrete is a process that I adore —the alchemy of liquid becoming solid. Mixing, colouring, pouring, drying—the process is uncontrived and unpretentious, but the results are bold, beautiful and organic, and no two pieces are ever the same. The process of creating concrete items is so similar to baking, it’s uncanny. The precision that is required when mixing is to be respected and appreciated. My love for textures, colour, the Australian landscape and experimentation has always been a huge part of my creative process.
