“We don’t stop playing because we’re old–we grow old when we stop playing.” -Dr. Mike

A fougere film that’s all joy, upheaval and retrospective romance. A misty bathroom scene. Sweet-cool, mystic cardamom steam drapes the shave ready shoulders of a group of young souls. Embodied by drizzles of bergamot, these young men are ebullient and brilliant track, their golden gleam brightening as they prep their follicular prey by drenching it in a virile attack raid–sizzles of blue lavender pomade their hair and prep their skins. Blades slide and slice across skin, the smell of steel and soap and swarthy swelter reminiscent of geranium oxide. Not one hair survives the glide of their eager blades. On top of now smooth skin poetically crinkled with laughter, a sprinkle of madness (a crisp apple splash) conjoins the swinging present to the graver waves of nostalgia (another potion, this one of a regal floral character, Davana crash). Before heading out to hit the stage, these gloriously gorgeous, groomed and mildly dazed musicians evoke Yesterday…but play their hearts out in the here and now. An underground arm wrestling match between Vetiver (seemingly tame and classically affiliated) and Ambroxan (the sweat of divine lovers, known under other names as the preferred salt of the present) is the mainstage action that captivates and captures the wearer. Yesterday is the past, future and present.

A fresh, aromatic fragrance inspired by a picture of The Beatles hanging out in a hotel room, shaving and having fun. When Dr. Mike saw this picture, he immediately tried to place the fragrances that would have been whirling round that room….vetiver, lavender, perhaps santal? Yesterday revisits and revises the fougere: the results are so thrillingly modern, Yesterday has us saying, ‘Yes! TODAY!’

Made in collaboration with Yann Le razavet (MARBLE ARCH), Claude Pelletier (THE KUMARI) and Thomas Baignères (LES DARLINGS). A unique soundtrack written by PAT DAM SMYTH & Dr. Mike accompanies Yesterday and is available on Room 1015’s website. Campaign shot by Annika Berglund at Hotel Meurice, Paris.
