Exotic and luminous, Still Life in Rio is a new rendering of a unique classic. Yuzu is the tart-sweet pop at the top of this scent. Ginger provides a sparkling heat that makes Still Life In Rio shimmer, like light dancing on water. Mint is remarkable, a simultaneously spicy and green note that imparts a refreshing, tingling burn. Still Life in Rio truly blossoms with a blend of peppers; Jamaican hot peppers. In as many versions of red, green, yellow and orange as there are to imagine. Thankfully, coconut water emerges immediately after this piquant arc, and soothes (without eradicating) the sting, it’s sweet, nutty freshness a compliment to the tangy, dynamic fire of the peppers. Rum is the ultimate thirst (and fire) quencher, a brown, sugar elixir that ignites our imagination and let’s us sink into the rich landscape of this fantastic scent. White leather, a tantalizing alternative to the usual anchor of musk, is both terse and enlivening, a note that twinkles with the promise of adventure, even as it marks the end of this fragrant journey.
Still Life In Rio is Olfactive Studio’s first experience of picking a destination as inspiration, yet our approach remains staunchly photographic, a rare view of the bay. Taken by Brazilian photographer Flavio Veloso, the picture captures Rio’s beauty at that special moment when the sun ignites the sky, it’s golden shroud spreading across the dawn. Flavio Veloso ventured to the emblematic Corcovado where the majestic statue of Christ stands. The picture was snapped from the viewing platform at the peak of sunrise: a moment in time that conveys strength and fullness.
