An olfactory powerhouse, Outrecuidant is not afraid. Precociously spiced, this scent evokes an image of the self aware bonvivant, who just might have the phrase ‘handsome is as handsome does’ tattooed on their inner thigh. Initially a-shimmer, Outrecuidant is alight with acidic ginger, autumnal nutmeg and floral of cardamom. Spicy beginnings demonstrate Outrecuidant’s confidence, and provokes a verbal joust with inimitable rose: a burst of high-minded floral energy, rose is simultaneously reacting to olibanum’s sunny retorts. Unmistakably proud, rose and olibanum fend off the piquant jests of top notes, but thankfully never grow too self serious.
The concentrated, heady heart of this scent is diffused through a base that is delightfully daring and irresistibly insouciant. A gorgeous waft of tobacco sweetly caresses, while an almost arrogant dose of oud complicates. But oud, underscored by arousing patchouli, cannot maintain aloof diffidence, and so oud (aided by patchouli) grows lush beside tobacco. Despite its power, the base of this scent is a comforting, easy-to-sink-into final texture. Woody yet warm and totally assured of its own charms, Outrecuidant engages in argument as easily as it woos. (Old French cuidance evolving from the Latin cogitare: to think and outre; beyond, too much)
