Messengers of spring arrive, bearing gifts that bring smiles to faces dulled by winter’s chill. The joyous song of the nightingale accompanies vibrant fuchsia-colored aromas of Japanese plum blossoms as they spread, infusing the tepid air. It marks a fleeting moment of emotional awaking: to some a time for celebration and fresh starts; to others, a countdown to a departure for unknown horizons. Zoologist captures the onset of the Japanese spring through Nightingale, a pink floral chypre that will melt your heart. It opens with rich scents of saffron and rosy, powdery, tart Japanese plum blossoms, enveloping the core of the perfume like a luxurious silk kimono. Deep, warm aromas of oud, patchouli, moss, incense and ambergris seek to escape, seeping from the ruddy petals, to create a composition that’s complex and at the same time, simply desirable. Perfumer: Tomoo Inaba

10+++++ NIGHTINGALE is STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL!! This will be an obsessive FULL BOTTLE PURCHASE and new wardrobe staple, no doubt!! I smell Guerlain. I smell Caron. I smell a nod towards *GASP!!* L’HEURE BLEUE!! Nightingale is a classically inspired piece of olfactive art, and my first pick from the Easy-Loving set!! I was really worried about the rose note because my sinuses are sensitive to it, but in Nightingale, the rose is at once noticeable and melded. When that happens, I’m still bothered by this note. Thank goodness, Nightingale is a rare exception that is so blissfully romantic. I can’t get enough of this fragrance. Thank you, Zoologist!! This house is making me put other houses (Santa Maria Novella, UNUM) on the back burners, so to speak, because I’ve got my priorities in order. GUERLAIN! CARON! NO COMPROMISES!! NO SHAME!! I also plan on purchasing a bottle of DRAGONFLY, my second pick from the “natural world collection”!!

P.S. It’s nighttime and Nightingale is still going strong. After much thought, I’ve come to understand what it is about the jammy rose note that makes this fragrance so special; it’s giving a nod to another Guerlain, the long discontinued Parure edt. It’s no wonder that Nightingale is my favorite fragrance from Zoologist. As I said I must own it, not merely as a one time purchase, but as a staple in my fragrance wardrobe rotation. My, what a classic beauty. I’m in awe.

    P.P.S. Still in awe.

Where’s my consumer update where I explained how I wound up with rose and synth oud, after the smoke & mirrors and bells & whistles all fell away, at the last few spritzes of the travel spray? Me no can do. Sorry. :/
