Eau De Parfum

Beaufort London

Country of Origin: England

Fragrance Family: Woody

Style: Unisex

The year in which Nelson won the Battle of Trafalgar and lost his life: in the same year, Sir Francis Beaufort introduced his ‘wind force scale’. This scent imagines the powers (arbitrary and foreseeable) of battle itself. Powerful accords of smoke, gunpowder, blood and brandy are infused with sea spray and a penetrating citrus note. Lime’s floral, bright intensity is the acid that balances the alkaline of gunpowder and smoke, fresh from the cannon. Salty, viscous blood disperses throughout the mead-like golden, nectar of a private stock of brandy. Sea spray reinforces the saline, tannic quality of blood, while amber echoes the warm, earthy sweetness of brandy. Fir balsam and cedarwood inject sap-thick notes of clean refreshment into this heady, man-overboard brew. A fragrance that is bold yet ultimately refined, provocative yet unique.

Fragrance Notes:

Lime, Smoke, Gun Powder, Blood, Brandy, Sea Spray, Amber, Fir Balsam, Cedarwood

This was a nice surprise for me. Despite the unusual/challenging notes the fragrance is definitely wearable. Its for the night. Dark, sexy and complex. You will be noticed.

Intensely smokey and dark! My wife knew immediately when I opened the sample, saying she smelled a bonfire! This is unique stuff, and I’d wear it…never. I can’t think of a single occasion!? Thumb neutral on this one. Worth a look, if not just for educational purposes? Very interesting.

I’m a little obsessed with this one. I looove art that exists in a vacuum and for its own sake. Sheet music that’s borderline unplayable by the instruments designated. Flowing impractical dresses in unrealistic proportions. Desserts conveying bitterness and loss. This perfume is pretty much that. It’s composed of aromas one wouldn’t typically think of as lovely: gunpowder, blood and seawater, smoke and lime. The brandy note even captures an alcohol fume sensation, as if you’ve smelled the perfume too soon after applying it. It tells a story about a battle instead of the story of an epic love (like Shalimar) or a story of shoulderpads and the 80′s (like Poison). But I still found it very endearing and passionate and distinctive and entrancing in a strange nostalgic way… as if I finally felt like I was home, but my home all along had been a British war vessel and I’d just forgotten.
